The Canadian dollar strengthened against the U.S. dollar on Monday, reaching its highest level in roughly five weeks as investor sentiment improved amid hopes for a diplomatic easing of tensions in the Middle East.
After climbing nearly 93% over the past year, GOLD continues to attract investor attention as traders debate whether the stock still offers upside potential at current levels.
GOLD closed the latest trading session with a 1.08% gain, ending the day at $44.99. The move outpaced the broader S&P 500, which advanced 0.8%.
Canada’s labour market added a net 26,700 jobs in May while the unemployment rate ticked up to 6.2 per cent, Statistics Canada said on Friday.
